Our land and building survey business was established when Michael and Steven - who share complementary skill sets, passions and ambitions - had a chance meeting at a coffee machine in a co-working space. We quickly realised the opportunity in bringing together our experience and skills and within a few months, Aura Survey was trading.

Our ambition is to see Aura Survey become one of the country's leading land and building surveyors. Defining boundaries has become a company motto, but this will not be achieved without an innovative and collaborative approach to all aspects of our quality services.

Michael Cockburn

Michael started his own energy assessment business (Eviro) in early 2013. The business became Aura when he met and partnered with Steven Jeans. Michael specialises in commercial energy assessment and, utilising his background in construction, he has a intimate understanding of building construction - advantageous for producing commercial EPCs accurately and efficiently.
His expertise extends to managing a team of energy assessors to deliver high volume EPC projects which can cover the whole of Scotland. Michael loves any excuse to get up to the Highlands.

Steven Jeans

Land & Building Survey Lead

Steven began his career as a land surveyor and has built a strong portfolio of projects across a number of industries. He has a First Class Masters degree in Civil Engineering and Management and trained as a structural engineer.
During his studies, his attitude and ambition led to consistent recognition; as well as graduating with distinction he went on to receive a number of engineering accolades including graduating top of his class.  After time as a structural design engineer - working with clients such as BP and Shell on high value projects - he has taken the opportunity to return to land and building survey, now bringing a wealth of experience to the role.
